Major UK airline to cut flights to three destinations from next month

Loganair will reduce flights between Inverness and the Orkney Islands (Kirkwall), Shetland (Sumburgh), and Stornoway from July 19, shrinking its daily services on those routes. There are presently daily Inverness–Orkney and Inverness–Shetland flights and a regular link to Stornoway, but from July onward, services will operate only on Saturdays and Sundays. The change reflects sustained pressure on lifeline routes, with rising fuel costs, aircraft repair bills, airport charges, and route fees forcing Loganair, Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL), and Transport Scotland to preserve essential connectivity within a tighter budget.
