Man charged with murder after 16-year-old shot, killed in Clayton County
Clayton County police arrested Joshua Clinton after a 16-year-old was shot and killed in unincorporated Jonesboro last Friday, according to reports from Atlanta News First. Clinton faces multiple charges, including murder, aggravated assault, reckless conduct, child cruelty, battery, tampering with evidence, discharging a firearm near a public roadway, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Officers were called to the 800 block of Mt. Zion Road, where they found the teen boy with a gunshot wound; he was taken to the hospital and later died. Police said they have not yet identified the victim. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing disagreement among multiple people that escalated into gunfire. Clinton’s arrest involved assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. Police said Clinton is also tied to a separate shooting after the teen’s death, and the story remains developing.
