NATO scrambles fighter jets as Russia launches huge drone attack

NATO scrambled fighter jets again after a new overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine, according to reports cited in Romania. The Romanian Ministry of Defence said its radar detected an air target developing in Ukrainian airspace about 20 km north of Periprava near the border, leading to two F-18 fighters from Spain’s Air and Space Forces being scrambled from the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base. A RO-Alert was issued to parts of Tulcea County at 00:17, and the air alert ended at 00:40, with no detected penetrations into Romanian airspace. Later, another target was identified near Chilia, prompting a second RO-Alert. Separately, reports cited fatalities in a strike on Zaporizhzhia.
