New budget airline is coming to BWI Airport -- here's where it will fly
Budget airline Breeze Airways will begin flying from BWI Marshall Airport in October, adding nonstop routes to Burlington, Vermont, and Vero Beach, Florida. BWI announced the service on Wednesday, with flights to Burlington starting Oct. 4 and flights to Vero Beach starting Oct. 1. Both routes will operate three times per week on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, according to a BWI release. The announcement follows the closure of Spirit Airlines in May, which had previously served six destinations from BWI. BWI said the new service is expected to support tourism and economic development and expand passenger access to popular destinations. Breeze’s expansion plan includes three new cities and 11 nonstop flights, and the airline currently operates in 91 cities across North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Breeze founder David Neelman said the goal is to connect communities overlooked by other carriers.
