North Georgia man charged in fatal shooting at a church in McCaysville underscores ongoing criminal investigation by Georgia authorities following a deadly incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Nicholas Rogers, 29, of Blue Ridge, has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. The case involved a shooting at Bethel Baptist Church, where Fannin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Thursday morning after receiving reports of gunfire. Deputies found Austin Teems, also 29 and from Blue Ridge, suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a preliminary investigation. Rogers was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies, with the GBI assisting the investigation, according to the agency.
