NTSB Chair Calls Amazon 'Prime Air' Crash Scene 'Utter Devastation,' Says Boeing 767 Traveled 1,300 Feet

NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy called the Amazon Prime Air crash scene in Miami “utter devastation,” saying the Boeing 767 overran the runway and traveled about 1,300 feet beyond the paved surface. The incident occurred Sunday at 1:53 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time at Miami International Airport. Homendy said Flight 7598, operated by Miami-based 21Air LLC for Amazon Air, was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with two crew members. The aircraft struck navigational aids and collided with a white Ford van carrying seven occupants, and also hit a Toyota Corolla. The NTSB plans to stay in Miami for at least a week to recover evidence and investigate operations, training, and FAA oversight.
