One Child, Two Adults Injured When Small Plane Crashes on Roadway

A small plane crash on a San Jose roadway injured two adults and a child Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. at Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Drive. Police said no pedestrians were hurt and no other vehicles were involved. Fire officials reported a fuel spill that was absorbed. The plane’s occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital as a precaution. Photos from the scene showed the wrecked aircraft with its nose in the pavement. Authorities said the 1968 Cessna 177A Cardinal had departed from Reid-Hillview County Airport and the pilot reported engine failure before declaring an emergency; investigators are still reviewing the cause.
