Patriots lead Jets 17-3 at halftime
The Patriots took a 17-3 lead over the Jets late in the first half at Gillette Stadium after extending momentum on one of New England’s final drives. With just over a minute left in the second quarter, New England moved into the Jets’ 9-yard line following a pass to Pop Douglas that was aided by a roughing-the-passer call on Jets rookie linebacker David Bailey. After two incompletions, Drake Maye scrambled and found Douglas for a touchdown, pushing the Patriots ahead. New England will receive the ball to start the third quarter. Maye was not sacked despite injuries up front, including ankle concerns for Morgan Moses and a hamstring designation for Alijah Vera-Tucker, plus a shoulder issue for Romeo Doubs. The Jets managed field goal points and two failed fourth-down attempts.
