Parts of Learjet 60 plane found miles from its Florida crash site as all 9 passengers and pilots identified
Investigators are still trying to piece together what caused a Learjet en route to the Bahamas to crash in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Nov. 1. At a Nov. 3 National Transportation Safety Board press conference, NTSB spokesperson Tom Chapman said the probe is a “big puzzle,” and that severe storms have complicated work at the crater. This week, the NTSB will coordinate with local public works teams to drain water so investigators can find components. Chapman said the left tail elevator was found in three pieces between about 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the site, and investigators believe it separated before impact. Weather remains central; the NTSB has said ice formed during moderate turbulence, and Chapman disputed any link to the aircraft’s proximity to Mar-a-Lago.
