Qantas picks London for first record-breaking non-stop flights

Qantas has named London as the inaugural destination for its ultra-long nonstop flight. The Sydney-to-London service is planned to take about 20 hours, replacing the Kangaroo Route stopover. Tickets go on sale in February, with an October 2027 launch. The route could reach 19-21 hours depending on routing and winds, with favorable tailwinds. Polar journeys are expected to account for about a quarter of operations in winter. Analysts expect a potential earnings uplift of more than A$400 million annually if demand holds.
