Russia prepares to import jet fuel from Asia amid fuel crisis, Reuters reports

Russia is preparing to import aviation fuel from Asia, with Reuters reporting a plan to move at least 200,000 barrels via intermediaries. The shipment is expected to be loaded in the first half of July from Chiba, Japan, then routed first to South Korea as part of a multi-trader chain. Several companies will be involved, according to Reuters sources. Kpler, which monitors global supply chains, said Russia last used this corridor to import jet fuel in February 2022, when a 22,000-barrel consignment was sent from Yeosu to Vladivostok. The effort comes amid a fuel crisis worsened by Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure. The move follows broader attempts to cover shortages at home.
