San Jose airport adds new nonstop flight linking South Bay with Texas

San Jose’s airport is adding a new daily nonstop route to address declining travel demand in the South Bay. Delta Airlines will launch service between San Jose Mineta International Airport and Austin, Texas, with flights to Austin Bergstrom International Airport beginning Oct. 6. The new connection will raise Delta’s total daily departures from the airport to 23, city officials said. Austin is described as a consistently requested destination by Delta passengers. The route will be operated by an Airbus A319 aircraft and is noted as the only option for premium seating between San Jose and Austin’s airport. San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and Aviation Director Mookie Patel said the link will strengthen business travel and mobility for talent and visitors.
