Sun Country to resume Twin Cities-Melbourne flights this winter at MLB
Sun Country to resume Twin Cities-Melbourne flights this winter at MLB returns the seasonal nonstop route between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Melbourne. After a one-winter pause during 2026, Sun Country Airlines will restart the service in January at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, beginning Jan. 22 and running until April 2. The carrier previously launched the route in February 2023, and the airport said Boeing 737 flights averaged 89% of passenger capacity that year. Melbourne airport officials attributed demand to travel ties between Minnesota and Florida, including family visits and winter travel on Florida’s Space Coast. Sun Country did not operate earlier this year due to an equipment availability issue. The announcement comes shortly after Allegiant Air said it would acquire Sun Country in a $1.5 billion deal, completed in mid-May. The combined group is expected to serve about 22 million annual passengers across nearly 175 cities and roughly 650 routes, with a combined fleet of 195 aircraft.
