Scottish crime boss Steven Lyons is extradited to Spain | Sur in English
Scottish crime boss Steven Lyons has been extradited to Spain, arriving at Madrid’s Barajas Airport earlier this Wednesday in handcuffs under armed police escort. The 46-year-old came on a flight from Amsterdam after losing a legal bid to prevent extradition just under a week earlier. Spanish authorities said he is wanted over alleged involvement in a murder in Spain in 2024, despite earlier indications from a Malaga court that the case was not being investigated for violent offences involving loss of life. In the coming weeks, Lyons is expected to be transferred to custody near Malaga, where a judge will question him over suspected money laundering and membership of a criminal gang. The transfer involved officers from Interpol and SIRENE, following raids in Scotland and on the Costa del Sol tied to Operation Arborum.
