Seaplane crashes in Washington state with 11 people on board: What we know

A seaplane crash off the coast of Washington state Thursday injured 11 people, with one patient reported in critical condition, authorities said. The Kenmore Air seaplane made an emergency landing and caught fire near Sucia Island in the San Juan Islands at about 5:30 p.m., according to the U.S. Coast Guard. The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said the pilot and 10 passengers were rescued from the water. It reported multiple injuries including head trauma, broken bones, and lacerations, and said there were no reports of fatalities at the time of the statement. Kenmore Air said the de Havilland DHC-3 Otter crashed about 45 minutes after taking off from Lake Union in Seattle. The airline also canceled all scheduled flights for Friday.
