South Florida aviation community sending aid to Venezuela after deadly earthquakes—South Florida’s aviation and local volunteers are organizing humanitarian flights to support Venezuela following deadly earthquakes. Venezuelan officials said the death toll rose to 1,430 as efforts continued. On Saturday, volunteers worked around the clock preparing hundreds of boxes of donated supplies near a hangar, with NBC6 showing cargo ready for loading onto a private aircraft. Organizers said one humanitarian flight departed Saturday morning, but further flights were put on hold pending authorization from the Venezuelan government. Donations include food, water, baby essentials, and pet food, while organizers said first-aid and rescue equipment are the most urgently needed items. Ignacio Martinez, director of W Aviation, highlighted medicines and additional tools. Hugo Cortes and others described logistical constraints because the planes are private and seat counts cannot be removed. The effort aims to continue for about a month depending on permissions.
