Spanish media gives Ryanair easyJet Wizz Jet2 passenger warning
Spanish media reports are amplifying airline warnings that Europe could see very long airport queues this summer due to pressure on the EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES). The Majorca Daily Bulletin said the system has been fully operational across the Schengen Area since April 10 and, within two months, is already contributing to long lines, missed flights, and growing concern. Airports Council International Europe reported delays of up to three and a half hours during peak periods, while IATA forecasts queues stretching up to six hours in the busiest months. UK low-cost carriers including Ryanair, easyJet, and Jet2 warned of missed departures, schedule disruption, and higher operating costs. Ryanair told passengers needing airport check-in or bag-drop to complete procedures 20 minutes earlier and noted it will close those services one hour before departure, compared with 40 minutes previously; the change takes effect November 10. Jet2 said its desks open exactly three hours before departure and will not open earlier, even with EES checks.
