The flight hours and miles of World Cup travels of FIFA's Infantino in numbers
The flight hours and miles of World Cup travels of FIFA’s Infantino in numbers highlights how Gianni Infantino’s 2026 tournament schedule translated into extensive air travel across North America. The Associated Press analyzed flight logs for a private business jet used by Infantino, alongside AP photos and social media images, tracking how many miles and hours he amassed. The analysis estimates that by the time either Argentina or Spain is crowned, he will have flown far enough to circle the planet almost 2½ times. Access came via a Gulfstream G650 from the Qatari government fleet, operated by the private charter division of Qatar Airways. Since a June 9 Los Angeles-to-Mexico City flight, FlightAware data show the jet averaged more than one flight a day, with multiple days exceeding three. Infantino attended 43 matches, visited all 16 venues, and flew to locations including New York, Miami, and Doha, ahead of the U.S.-based semifinals and New Jersey final.
