Thousands in Kent face water supply misery after pipe bursts

Thousands of homes in Kent are dealing with water disruption after a burst pipe flooded Shipbourne Road in Tonbridge. South East Water (SEW) said more than 2,500 customers in the Tonbridge area saw low pressure or no water at about 15:00 BST on Saturday after a “large pipe burst” at 07:15. SEW warned repairs are “very complex” and it does not expect the pipe to be fixed “until sometime overnight tonight.” The company is rerouting water through its network to supply more properties, and said 3,200 homes were affected shortly after the incident. Two bottled-water stations—at Sovereign Way East Car Park and Tonbridge Farm Sports Centre—remain open until 22:00 BST.
