Travel company rescued after falling into administration in 2026
Groupia Ltd, which specialized in group travel for stag and hen weekends, golf trips, team tours and spa breaks, has been revived after entering administration on June 16, 2026. The company, trading under brands including Groupia Golf, GoHen, StagWeb, Groupia School Trips and Company Away Days, began in 2002 and has been used by more than 750,000 travellers. The rescue follows Groupia’s acquisition by Cheshire-based Funktion Leisure. Funktion Events managing director Jay Broughton said the deal brings GoHen and StagWeb back online, with “early demand” encouraging a focus on stability and customer experience. The acquisition retains some Groupia staff and keeps the brands ABTA-bonded. Funktion said bookings are open across the group, with further investment planned. The broader 2026 landscape includes multiple other UK travel failures and airline administrations or liquidations, including Ascend Airways, EcoJet Airlines, Zenith Aviation and European Cargo.
