TSA partners with Google Wallet for TSA PreCheck Touchless ID
The TSA announced a partnership with Google Wallet to support TSA PreCheck Touchless ID enrollment directly through the digital wallet platform. The feature, introduced Wednesday, is available at 65 airports and can be used by eligible travelers flying with more than 100 airlines that participate in TSA PreCheck. The program uses facial comparison technology at dedicated screening lanes, allowing participating TSA PreCheck members to pass through checkpoints without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass. TSA said travelers can add their boarding pass to Google Wallet during airline check-in, then receive a “Get started” option if they have a qualifying digital ID. After consenting to share their digital ID and boarding pass details with TSA, users receive a confirmation and success code in Google Wallet, and a Touchless ID indicator appears on their boarding pass. TSA also said eligible passengers still have the option to save a valid passport with participating airlines and opt in manually. Google’s P.J. Linarducci said the rollout targets faster, easier screening for the summer travel season.
