Wife of man who died after 'severe turbulence' on flight from Heathrow sues airline

Linda Kitchen, 74, is suing Singapore Airlines after her husband Geoff Kitchen, 73, died following “severe turbulence” on a Heathrow flight to East Asia in May 2024. The BBC reports that Geoff suffered a heart attack when the aircraft dropped suddenly at high altitude. Linda, who broke her back in the incident, has filed proceedings at the High Court. The couple had planned a six-week trip through Singapore, Indonesia and Australia. Turbulence worsened as the aircraft flew over Myanmar, prompting a diversion back to Bangkok, Thailand, for an emergency landing. Linda said a sudden drop of about 6,000 feet threw Geoff onto her; other passengers helped and a doctor began CPR. She learned of his death two days later.
