A privately kept journal entry penned by Major Bill Davidson in July 1954 is shedding new light on reported Loch Ness Monster sightings. Davidson, an Army officer in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, recorded the encounter in just seven sentences—describing seeing “the Loch Ness Monster” for about 20 minutes and noting its speed, size and movement patterns, including diving, back-tracking and a wide V-shaped wake. The family says the account is among the clearest and longest sightings they know of and had been kept within the family. As they prepare to sell a stretch of Loch Ness shoreline they once owned, Davidson’s son Bob shared the entry publicly, alongside other family accounts.
