Body found along Grosse Pointe Shores is missing boater, Coast Guard says

The U.S. Coast Guard says a body recovered Tuesday in Lake St. Clair waters is that of a boater who fell overboard Saturday. The remains were found near the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club in Grosse Pointe Shores. The U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes identified the person as a 74-year-old who went overboard about 7 p.m. Saturday from a 58-foot yacht. Crews conducting search and recovery operations included marine and helicopter units, with the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards, Grosse Pointe Farms Police, and the Wayne County Marine Division participating. During the weekend, authorities searched 89 square nautical miles. The City of Grosse Pointe Farms rescheduled a fireworks show originally planned for Saturday to Sunday to keep the search going.
