Child rescued from River Severn at Bridgnorth
A child was rescued from the River Severn in Shropshire after reports that someone entered the water from a boat, Bridgnorth Police said. Emergency services were called to a stretch of the river near the Knowle Sands Caravan Park, earlier on Sunday. Police credited the “quick and decisive actions” of family members and members of the public with getting the child safely out when responders arrived. The force thanked those involved for their “swift intervention,” but reminded the public to take care around open water during warmer weather. Although the child was wearing a life preserver, officers stressed that “significant dangers still remain.” The response included Bridgnorth officers, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and Midlands Air Ambulance.
