Colorado State Patrol troopers increasing enforcement along E-470 during Labor Day weekend

Colorado State Patrol says it will step up enforcement along E-470 during the Labor Day weekend as more drivers return to the state. With traffic expected to rise on Monday, troopers are targeting reckless and distracted driving and warning motorists about specific behaviors they’re watching for, including unsafe lane changes, tailgating, and improper passing. Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties are among the top focus areas. Drivers pulled over for drinking and driving can face arrest. Troopers are also reminding drivers of Colorado’s Move Over Law, which requires moving over for vehicles with hazard lights or slowing if it isn’t safe. Failure to yield is a class 2 misdemeanor with penalties including jail and fines.
