Community rallies behind Charlotte father after wife, daughter deported

A Charlotte father, Anderson Dominguez, spoke publicly after his wife and 6-year-old daughter, Zoeh, were deported to Venezuela. Community members and state and local leaders gathered Thursday to support him. Dominguez said the family has been in Charlotte since 2024 and that they followed the asylum process, including logging in for a virtual hearing last month that he said the judge never joined. He learned three days later where his family had been taken. Officials cited deportation orders for removal. NC representatives Julia Greenfield (District 100) and Jordan Lopez (District 112) joined the event, while Siembra NC said paperwork issues can derail complex immigration cases and that ICE arrests have surged this summer.
