Deputies ID woman killed in Willamette River boat crash at Sauvie Island on Fourth of July
Deputies identified a 25-year-old Portland woman who died in a boat crash on the Willamette River near Sauvie Island on the Fourth of July. Reports came shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, after a boat ran ashore near the 14900 block of Northwest Gillihan Road. Deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, the Sauvie Island Fire Department, and American Medical Response responded and found Rosalyn Albornoz Lopez, 25, dead at the scene. The boat’s 51-year-old operator and three passengers—women aged 21, 23, and 24—were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. Investigators said a 33-foot cabin cruiser struck an aluminum walkway linked to a dock held by pilings. Authorities said they are still determining whether speed, impairment, or lighting conditions played a role, with no arrests as of Monday.
