Doesn't have the support': FIFA boss put on notice as stunning leadership challenge looms

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin warned FIFA boss Gianni Infantino that he must acknowledge he has lost the support of the football world or face a leadership challenge. Ceferin, a long-time critic of Infantino, pointed to the fallout from Infantino’s controversial and ultimately abandoned plan to attract private investment into FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup. While Ceferin said he won’t run for the FIFA presidency himself, he suggested Infantino could face a rival candidate if he seeks re-election at the next FIFA Congress in Morocco in March. Ceferin cited support from fans, players, and former players as well as voters.
