East Lothian RNLI crew spend all night at sea after urgent signal from boat
xCruzo Brief
An RNLI lifeboat crew from Dunbar, East Lothian, spent the night at sea after being alerted by the coastguard to a stranded fishing trawler. On Thursday, September 17, the 54ft (16.5m) vessel ran aground eight miles north-east of Dunbar without propulsion and sent a pan-pan call for urgent assistance. The five-person RNLI team launched from Dunbar Harbour at 9pm, reaching the scene just before 10pm. Due to the trawler’s draft, size and rough conditions, the decision was made to tow it to Eyemouth Harbour. The combined crews berthed the vessel, then left Eyemouth at 4:30am and returned at 6am.
