Falmouth sign error directs drivers to Plymouth 70 miles away

Confusion hit drivers in Falmouth, Cornwall, after a new brown tourist sign appeared directing people to a “Plymouth Marina” 70 miles (112.6 km) away, in a different county. The sign was reportedly installed on Tuesday and was printed alongside the words “The Greenbank Hotel,” which is actually located in Falmouth. Cornwall Council said the sign was removed on Thursday and would be replaced. A council spokesperson said Plymouth Marina is suitable for a tourist sign only in the correct location, adding that this particular version “was not made to our specification.”
