Fisherman found dehydrated adrift in Kiribati after 41 days lost at sea
xCruzo Brief
A group of Kiribati fishermen has rescued Luka Rahan, a Papua New Guinean man who spent 41 days adrift at sea after problems with his boat’s engine. Rahan, 18, set off with his cousin on a fishing trip from northern Bougainville last month. With no anchor on board, the pair began to drift after the motor failed. He was found alone and severely dehydrated between Tarawa and Maiana, about 2,000 kilometers away, on Tuesday afternoon. His cousin died the week before. Rahan was taken to Tarawa, where he is recovering in hospital.
