Follow this urgent advice before you head to the water - what you need to know
xCruzo Brief
RNLI’s urgent advice centers on staying properly equipped when heading out on the water, even during extreme summer heat. Barry Dock RNLI reminded the public that, during the Vale of Glamorgan’s third heatwave of the season, volunteer crews continued a training exercise wearing full protective kit despite temperatures climbing into the 30s. Volunteers emphasized lifejackets (or buoyancy aids), suitable footwear, and sun protection for activities such as sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. They also urged people to carry a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof pouch and to have a way to share their location with someone ashore. If anyone is in trouble, the RNLI said to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
