Giants Rookie Report after Week 5 Tie Vs. Commanders

After a 27-27 tie with the Washington Commanders in Week 5, the New York Giants’ early-season takeaways centered on how rookies are starting to contribute. The 2026 class received a league ranking from Justin Melo of NFL Draft on SI, placing the Giants’ group No. 2 behind the Cleveland Browns. While some setbacks showed up, several newcomers delivered meaningful snaps. Linebacker Arvell Reese, the No. 5 overall pick, had his first career sack and finished with nine tackles, despite missing one tackle and allowing three receptions for 36 yards in coverage per PFF. Rookie guard Francis “Sisi” Mauigoa didn’t allow a sack, though run-blocking remains inconsistent. Cornerback Colton Hood recorded three special-teams tackles before a head injury ended his game, and he covered kickoffs effectively.
