Governor Jeff Landry promotes hunting, fishing, Second Amendment

Louisiana will stage free events for National Hunting and Fishing Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, spotlighting conservation and outdoor recreation across four locations. Gov. Jeff Landry said hunting and fishing teach responsibility, support conservation, and strengthen family bonds, adding that Louisiana is among the only states where populations of alligators and black bears have been restored enough to remove both from the Endangered Species List and allow hunting. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host activities including exhibits on research and conservation, shooting and fishing demonstrations, and live animal demonstrations. Events draw more than 10,000 attendees annually and are free.
