Incident in San Diego prompts emergency crew response

Emergency crews responded to an incident involving an F-35 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego around 10 a.m. Friday, and the circumstances remain under investigation, according to a spokesperson from the installation. In a statement, officials said emergency personnel were responding to an “aircraft mishap” on the flight line at approximately 10 a.m. The F-35 was assigned to Third Marine Air Wing, Marine Air Group 11, and further details were expected as investigators confirm facts. Miramar is one of the Marine Corps’ major aviation installations and hosts multiple aircraft units under the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, with regular F-35 operations.
