Invasive fish that can walk on land and inspired horror movies caught in NY pond

An invasive fish capable of walking on land has been caught in a Suffolk County pond, highlighting a species known as the northern snakehead or Frankenfish. Angler Vinny Conwell hooked three individuals in Lily Pond last week, marking the first known catch in the county. Officials note that the fish can breathe air, survive out of water, and move short distances over land. New York law requires anyone who catches one to kill it and report the incident to the Department of Environmental Conservation.
