Javon Bullard's new offseason obsession is already paying off for the Packers
Packers defensive back Javon Bullard says the line between a missed chance and a game-changing turnover comes down to timing—one reason he took up boxing during the offseason. The 2024 second-round pick started the sport to build conditioning and hand-eye coordination, but found he enjoyed its focus on precision. During Thursday’s training camp practice, defensive backs worked a turnover drill requiring them to dive onto a mat and punch the football free from a teammate’s grasp. Bullard said the technique mirrors boxing: don’t swing wildly, hit exactly when the ball is exposed. The payoff came immediately as he stripped the ball from wide receiver Skyy Moore, with Xavier McKinney recovering. Green Bay wants more forced fumbles in 2026 after recording seven last season and Bullard, despite playing about 65% of defensive snaps, had none.
