Kayaker injured after reportedly being struck by jet ski in Wethersfield

A kayaker was injured after a reported collision with a jet ski on the Connecticut River in Wethersfield on Friday night. Firefighters were called near Putnam Park at about 7:45 p.m. following a report of an injured person in the water. Authorities said the kayaker was reportedly struck by a jet ski. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Environmental Conservation Police identified the victim as a 34-year-old woman from East Haven. She was taken to shore and transported to Hartford Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition. The driver of the jet ski allegedly fled the scene, and the incident remains under investigation.
