The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge will run from July 8 to July 11, 2026, transforming Monaco into a global laboratory for sustainable boating as Yacht Club de Monaco finalises Open Sea Xperience registrations for CE-certified zero-emission boats. A record 56 teams from 22 nations are registered for this edition, with 16 teams competing in the Open Sea Xperience category alone, and participants include a United States university and a delegation from China. The event features four categories: Energy Class, AI Class for autonomous prototypes, SeaLab Class and Open Sea Xperience, all under Monaco’s umbrella initiative to advance marine energy transitions. This year’s edition reinforces Monaco’s position as a hub for advanced yachting and cross-border collaboration among students, engineers and shipyards.</br>Organisers and sponsors emphasise practical, real-world testing and knowledge exchange as central to accelerating the maritime industry’s energy transition, with support from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, UBS, BMW and SBM Offshore, alongside industry players such as Safe Harbor, Oceanco, Ferretti Group, Azimut | Benetti Group and Lürssen. The event continues to grow since its 2014 launch, highlighting Monaco’s ambition to couple innovation with industry partnerships to push sustainable design and propulsion technologies forward.</br>Bernard d'Alessandri, Director and General Secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco, underscored that the challenge offers teams a hands-on platform to test technologies, learn from peers, and showcase ideas to a global audience.
