More Than 1,500 Pounds of Pork Recalled Over Listeria Risk
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is recalling 1,513 pounds of imported ready-to-eat, dry-cured pork jowl, commonly known as guanciale, after inspectors found Listeria monocytogenes in a sample. The recall involves Prime Line Distributors Incorporated and Ferrarini USA Incorporated and is classified as Class One, the agency’s most serious level, meaning there is a reasonable probability of serious health problems or death. The pork was produced in Italy by Bome S-R-L on May 21 and imported into the U.S. in July. Products have a best-if-used-by date of May 16, 2027, lot number 263311US. Distribution includes Florida for Prime Line and multiple states for Ferrarini. No illnesses were reported at announcement.
