New Providence Gas selects ECOnnect's marine transfer solution for Bahamas LNG project

ECOnnect Energy, a Norwegian technology company, has signed a charter agreement with New Providence Gas Ltd to deploy its IQuay™ C-Class floating LNG infrastructure for the Bahamas LNG project. The system is intended to support the island’s shift from fuel oil and diesel to a lower-emission fuel, enabling LNG imports from a carrier to the onshore terminal without the coastal work required for a conventional fixed jetty. Bahamas power generation relies heavily on imported fuel oil and diesel, and energy costs have remained elevated alongside global oil prices. The Bahamas government aims to modernize the power sector, cut emissions, improve affordability and reliability, and strengthen competitiveness. ECOnnect says the floating platform transfers LNG via flexible, floating insulated pipelines with minimal seabed disturbance.
