New trains arrive on the DLR - after severe delays
xCruzo Brief
London’s Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is finally bringing its new fleet back to service after a prolonged delay and a safety recall. TfL said the first of 54 new trains entered London’s network after the original delivery plan slipped from April 2024 to October 2025—a two-year wait. The trains, equipped with live travel information, air conditioning and mobile charging points, were removed within a month after a safety issue was found. All units were taken off service while TfL and manufacturer CAF investigated and developed a fix, which is now completed along with comprehensive testing. The phased return starts on the Stratford International–Woolwich Arsenal route.
