Newport man killed in boating accident on Bald Knob Lake, authorities say | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Authorities say Newport resident Garry Thomas Jr., 38, died in a boating accident on Bald Knob Lake last week. The White County Sheriff’s Office reported that his body was recovered on Sept. 23 by dive teams from the sheriff’s office and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The search began Sept. 22 at about 7 p.m., after officials were called to assist in locating a missing boater. Investigators found Thomas’ truck and trailer in the lake’s parking lot and later spotted his empty boat on the west side of Bald Knob Lake. The outboard motor had sustained significant damage. Officers located clothing believed to belong to Thomas around 800 feet south of the damaged boat. The commission will investigate as a fatal boating incident, and Thomas’ body was sent to the medical examiner.
