Teen bit by shark while boating with father off Texas coast

A 17-year-old boy was bitten by a shark while boating with his father off the coast of Galveston, Texas. He remained conscious and was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for treatment, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The three-person boat was en route to Galveston's Yacht Basin when the incident occurred, and responders were called after it became disabled. The father applied a tourniquet to control bleeding until help arrived. The boat reportedly spent several hours offshore before turning back to port, NBC Houston affiliate KPRC reported.
