Missing Beruwala Fishing Boat Found

The Beruwala fishing boat, which vanished after departing with six fishermen, has been located, officials say. Director General Susantha Kahawatta confirmed the vessel stalled mid-sea after running out of fuel, with fuel delivery arranged by a second boat. The boat, named Meenu Baba 1, had been missing since the 26th of last month. Kahawatta added that a merchant vessel later rescued an injured fisherman from another boat heading toward Indonesia, about 700 nautical miles away, and he is being brought back to shore after a Navy transfer. A second vessel, Oceanic 06, drifted toward Indonesia due to a technical fault. All six Meenu Baba 1 crew are safe and returning to land; authorities stress enhanced safety and seaworthiness for deep-sea fishing.
