NOTHING BUT GREEN: 8 weeks later, Inola volleyball made a believer out of me

After Oologah beat Inola in straight sets on Aug. 11—25-17, 25-19, 25-20—the sports editor Kevin Green said he thought the Lady Mustangs would keep control, including a possible sweep, and that Inola hadn’t closed the gap. But eight weeks later, the same teams met again in Oologah’s gym with a Class 4A state tournament berth at stake. Green returned to see a transformed Inola squad and a much different style of play that made him re-evaluate his earlier expectations. The article frames the turnaround as a response to a belief from Inola’s coach Tyler Swope that the earlier match didn’t reflect the team’s best.
