Palmer, Rice out of England Nations League squad

England confirmed on Monday that Cole Palmer is out of its Nations League squad after withdrawing due to injury, alongside four other players. The England team said Marcus Rashford, Declan Rice, Tino Livramento and Kobbie Mainoo were also ruled out for upcoming matches against world champion Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic (twice). In the replacements, only two players were called up: Everton midfielder James Garner and Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White. The decision affects Palmer’s chance to respond to coach Thomas Tuchel after a World Cup snub. Tuchel said last week Palmer would have “a point to prove” following his recall, and Palmer played the full game in Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Brentford on Friday.
