Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Just Got Upstaged by a Cat Video at the Box Office -- Report
A viral cat video compilation reportedly beat the new Prince Harry and Meghan Markle-backed release at the box office. The Archewell-produced series “Cookie Queens,” expected to perform well with its feel-good story about home bakers building small cookie businesses, struggled during its opening weekend. The documentary premiered in theaters on August 7 and debuted at No. 13, earning $327,797 across 446 screens, for an average of $734 per theater. By comparison, CatVideoFest2026—a 70-minute reel of the year’s top cat videos—took 10th place with $568,414 on 225 screens and a $2,229 per-screen average. “Cookie Queens” had an August promotional push, including special screenings and interviews, and it features Meghan Markle discussing her Girl Scout cookie preferences. Roadside Attractions acquired the film in March for a summer theatrical run after it missed a distribution deal at Sundance.
