Puerto de Mazarron records huge 118,000kg mackerel haul in just two days

The fish market in Puerto de Mazarrón has set a new record for mackerel, unloading more than 118,000 kilograms over just two days. Fishing boats operating in the Bay of Mazarrón brought large volumes of the species into the port on consecutive days, filling the local lonja with one of its biggest recent catches. On the first day, about 43,500 kilograms were landed, followed by a much larger second haul of roughly 75,000 kilograms. Combined, the two landings totaled 118,500 kilograms of fresh fish. Several vessels from the Puerto de Mazarrón fleet participated, along with one additional ship from outside the area, and local authorities welcomed the outcome.
